"I found this book.... overhyped. What was not overhyped was the Tom Hanks narration! A++
It was riding along at a 3 stars but the ending brought it up for sure. I get it - it’s interesting for discussion, themes, symbolism and the like. But I didn’t enjoy the story really. It was just “eh” through till like 75%, then it got better. There was some meaning and heartfelt moments brought in to save the day."

It's been a day, and I'm still thinking about it, missing it. I wish I hadn't predicted the major twist from the beginning, BUT it was definitely surprising (in a gut-wrenching way) to find out the motivations and context.
Knowing Tana French, I wasn't expecting a nice ending with a bow on it, but this book in particular left me feeling like there's so much more left for these characters. Like they have to go on living once I'm done with the book. It was a bit unsettling."

My second Maeve Binchy after Circle of Friends. Some similarities? Yes indeed. After these two books I'm suspicious of all men. And beautiful best friends, which should be outlawed.
But like the first, it was cozy and atmospheric and full of a huge, fun cast of characters. There were definitely some tear-jerking moments. Also some cringing, but nothing too crazy. It's easy, fast reading that kept me entertained from start to finish!"
